Businesses, schools open, closed in the Springfield IL area

July 4, or Independence Day, is a federal holiday.

This means that banks and post offices will be closed and there will be no mail delivery on Monday.

Illinois government buildings

Federal buildings, Illinois state offices, the Sangamon County building and the municipal building, as well as the Lincoln Library, will be closed.

Springfield Schools

The Springfield School District 186 administrative offices are closed Monday and there are no summer make-up classes. The education council meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, which will include a public hearing on the proposed online learning program.

Offices at the University of Illinois Springfield Campus, Lincoln Land Community College Campus, and Midwest Technical Institute Springfield Campus will be closed and there will be no classes.

Springfield Transit

Sangamon Mass Transit District and Access Sangamon buses will not run on Monday.

Springfield Tourism

The Lincoln Home and the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum are open regular hours Monday.
