P&Q’s Must-Read: Big-Brand B Schools Are Tiptoeing Into the Online MBA Market

0

Hello everyone — Welcome back to Poets&Quants’ Must Reads, a quick and digestible roundup of top business school news, sponsored by CentreCourt, P&Q’s virtual admissions events.

I’m your host, Kristy Bleizeffer, and I’ll highlight the most important P&Q stories you might have missed. So let’s go.

#1: Top B-Schools Are Entering the Online MBA Market

At a time when enrolling in online MBA programs exceeds that of full-time on-campus programs in the United States AND as employers are increasingly accepting online MBA degrees, two big name business schools are dipping their toes in the waters online.

This year, for the first time ever, UC-Berkeley Haas School of Business and NYU’s Stern School of Business will welcome online cohorts to their part-time MBAs. Other flagship programs may soon follow.

Poets&Quants Editor John Byrne breaks down the two new programs and outlines why more top programs are looking to develop their own online MBAs in this must-read story, available now on our homepage.

#2: Meet McKinsey’s MBA Class of 2021

If you’ve ever wondered what’s in the secret sauce that turns an MBA into McKinsey hardware, this set of profiles of the latest generation of hires from Mckinsey & Company can teach you the recipe.

We reached out to 14 2021 MBA hires at consulting firm Big Three and asked them about interview advice, their most significant accomplishments, and their B-school experience. If you’re looking for a career in consulting, their experiences can help you prepare for what’s next.

Look for the Mikinsey MBA class of 2021 on our homepage.

#3: News You Can Use

Last week we posted several great stories in the News You Can Use category. If you are at some point in the MBA journey, take a minute to check them out.

First, Caroline Diarte Edwards, co-founder and director of Fortuna Admissions, compiles the top tips for building your target business school list-a must-read for future MBAs always looking for the right culture and the right form.

Then, for those at the end of their journey and looking to embark on their new career, P&Q author Greg Lang offers a great collection of tips from the faculty of Harvard Business School.

Finally, for those ready to take the plunge, P&Q ranks the Top 20 Admissions Consultants which can help you get into your target dream schools – or schools.

All of these stories – and many more tips, advice and resources – can be found in our admission centeraccessible from our main menu.

#4: Top 40-Under-40 Business School Teachers of 2022

Finally, don’t miss the list of this year’s top 40 MBA professors. This is the 10th edition of our annual recognition, and through 400 winners in total, our goal remains unchanged: to identify and celebrate the most talented young professors currently teaching in MBA programs around the world.

This year’s list includes teachers from 33 different schools, including 14 international schools, as well as 18 outstanding women, the most we’ve ever had. We received more than 2,240 applications and assessed 140 individual professors on their teaching accolades, research impact, and breadth and quality of their applications.

We congratulate each man and woman honored this year and invite you to read their individual profiles on poetsandquants.com.

And that’s it for this week’s must-read recap. But, before leaving, I want to alert all school seekers of the upcoming CentreCourt MBA Festival events. These events connect prospective students with admissions experts, alumni, and career development teams at the top MBA programs in the country — and the world.

Our next series, MBA Voices, takes place June 7-8, and you can register for free on our events tab on Poets&Quants.com.

For Online MBA applicants, our next Backstage event will take place on July 12. This is your chance to hear from current students, admissions teams, and alumni of some of the best online programs around. Sign up on our events page.

Thank you for your attention. Again, I’m Kristy Bleizeffer from Poets&Quants, and you can join me next week, right here, for a recap of what’s important in the world of business education. Stay informed!
